How your data is handled
Last updated: October 2026
A step-by-step picture of what happens when you use Dr. Knat.
1. In your browser
- Voice input is transcribed by your browser's speech engine; raw audio is not uploaded.
- Uploaded documents (PDF/text) are read in the browser and their text is sent with your question.
- Health reminders and tracking entries live in your browser's local storage only.
2. On the app server
- Your messages and any attached image are passed to the server only to forward them to the configured AI model.
- Model credentials (endpoint, model ID, API key) are stored server-side and never exposed to the browser.
- The server does not keep a database of your conversations.
3. At the AI model provider
- The configured provider (for example Hugging Face Inference Providers) processes your text and images to produce a reply.
- Each provider has its own data policy; avoid sharing identifying information in uploads.
Retention and deletion
- Starting a new chat clears the visible conversation.
- Clearing browser storage removes reminders and local data.
